I think we all know the numbers and writing them again and again won’t really fix the issue that we have on our plates (no pun intended, well maybe a little 🙂 ).
Most of the times you are presented very scary numbers that should inflict shock and awe, but I think the problem should not be dealt through fear, rather through a more friendly calm fashion.

Sugar Is The Enemy Number One
Is sugar really that bad?
Problem is we are usually eating lots of foods that contain sugar, and that is one of the main reasons why we start gaining weight.
Sugar is hidden in many different processed foods and because of that we always recommend to stay away from them or at least, read the ingredient list and make sure you know how much sugar you are allowed to eat or even better leave it on the shelf.
On average we consume about 80 grams of sugar every day.
It is recommended for women to not go over 25 grams and for men over 35.
One 12-ounce can of your regular soda, contains more sugar than the recommended daily amount.
One thing we know for sure. Sugar causes fat gain and may lead to obesity and diabetes.
Once you have those two, you will have a very hard time losing weight and keeping yourself healthy.
So either stay away from sugar or make sure you don’t go overboard with sweets. I think the 2nd option is better. You can also use vanilla extract.

Starting Your Meal With A Glass Of Water
A glass of water before a meal will help you feel full and eat less.
This is one of the oldest tricks in the book and if you do this every day, with every meal you have you will always be hydrated and that will promote weight loss, and you will eat less calories.
If you want to burn fat then this should be on the top of the list and practiced every day.
Use Smaller Plates… Really?
This is one of those blog myths in my opinion.
If you really want to make it look like you are eating more, well you should eat more! More food with less calories.
Let’s change the foods.
Less processed foods from Walmart and more fresh ingredients that you cook at home. This means more fruits, veggies, nuts and berries, lean protein should always be present too. Make your plates big and rich with greens.
Once you start cooking and by the time you finish, the kitchen will be filled with beautiful smells and you will feel hungry, but when you start eating you will notice that are getting full really fast.
This is what is happening to me every time (not a big chef myself but…) I like to do some grilling outdoor, and by the time I finish all the food and sit down with friends and family to eat, I usually sit last and leave the table first, only because I just can’t eat as much as others because I was standing the smokey BBQ and I feasted on the delicious smell.
Your Old Friend, EXERCISE
You will notice an increasing progress, with only the 3 tips from above, but what is the next best thing you can do in order to lose or maintain weight?
Well, I know we all kinda hate it and like it in the same time.
If you can exercise first thing in the morning, that’s great.
But maybe you are a mom that has so much on her plate that she hardly has time for herself.
Well, after work will be just as good, it will relax your body before you start your evening.
Chose the best exercise you can do and practice it every day.
Running, rollerblading, swimming, cycling, etc.
Do it for fun, don’t do it to lose weight. This is the best way to not eventually hate an activity.
If you force yourself to try and do something that you dislike, eventually you will quit and that is when the relapse hits you.
We don’t want to lose all the weight in just a couple of days, what we want is a healthy stable, long beautiful and loving life with our friends and family.
The daily 30 minutes of aerobics in front of the TV, Phone, MAC, PC will be the extra step you will take when you start feeling comfortable.
Packing a healthy snack will save you from ruining your progress and achieving your goals at a steady pace.
Now I know how you feel about it, I do the same way.
Nothing is gonna beat Pringles or a Twinkie bar. There is a reason why they are so good, and that’s because both of them were designed in the laboratory to taste good so you would want to buy more, more and more.
Sadly greed is what is causing many health problems today.
Now you know this, you have the knowledge to make a change, why create excuses? You will still feel bad with or without the darn excuses. Why not try once and for all make a stand and change your way of thinking.
Swapping the bad foods for fruits, is a great start. You will experiment and learn what you enjoy most, then you can start combining different fruits and veggies to create the ultimate snaking experience that will make you lose weight and maintain your progress.
