Eating Real Foods
What are real foods?
- Real foods are those that are not processed or refined.
We might like the occasional burger or chips but we should never replace our diet with these types of processed and refined foods.
What is the problem with those types of foods?
Often times processed and refined foods contain many ingredients that the natural “whole” foods actually do not have.
Whether we buy canned or pre-packed foods almost all of them contain additives, some additives are worse than others, it is important to note that.
There were plenty of studies conducted on many types brands, and results were… well let’s say they were not good at all.
Sugar being one of the main problems.
Every time we see on a cereal box the word carbohydrates, what it should actually say is sugars, starch, and cellulose.
Because of these types of foods many people are sugar dependent, and that is a huge problem for our health.
In order to start and set your foot on the right path, you need to start at least reading the ingredients that are on the packaged and canned foods.
Only this way you will be sure what those foods contain and what you will be putting inside your body.
To be on the safe side “best side” stay away from those types of foods and concentrate on natural, whole foods.
Eat More Plant-Based Foods
Does this mean now you will need to eat grass only?
Real foods are not only plants.
Meats that are not processed are also real foods.
What Plant-Based Foods Should I Eat?
These are the types of plants that are rich in protein and many vegans eat them to replace animal protein.
Try to shop for the freshest veggies and fruits you can find near you in order to be sure that you are getting what you pay for.
And also don’t be afraid to ask where they are from and how long they have been sitting in the shop.
How Do I Eat For Nourishment?
Let’s start with the basics.
- Eat regular
- Eat balanced meals
- Eat only healthy snacks
- Eat at home more often
- Prepare your food in healthy ways
- When you chose to go eat out be careful with your choices
- Pack home food when you know you will be gone for the whole day
This might be an overwhelming process, but you don’t need to do all of this at once.
Start by creating a habit with this system.
Every day you add something new to the list that you do.
This will ensure that you practice learn and not get overwhelmed.
Eat as much as you need.
Eat food that you know is good for you.
Don’t trust other to make you delicious meals, when you clearly know that those foods are bad for you.
Drink More Water
You need to drink at least half a gallon a day in order to stay hydrated.
And you should add fruits and veggies to the mix as they usually contain lots of water, vitamins and minerals.
Water is Life.
Limit The Alcohol
Notice that it is “LIMIT” not “REMOVE” alcohol.
Because alcohol can be a health plus.
Just understand that you do not need to exaggerate.
What are the Limits?
The limits are pretty simple:
- 5 ounce glass of wine
- 12 ounce beer
- 1.5 ounce spirits
Don’t add alcohol as a health booster if you are already consuming it.
At the very beginning of your Clean Eating journey you might be overwhelmed and think that it is a radical change of lifestyle.
Well it really depends on what is you current lifestyle.
But to be fair it is not that hard especially if you chose to do it gradually and with care.
This lifestyle has many benefits and it will show you the other way of living life and enjoying every moment of it!
